Just for the MPV? I think it's like $70/mth... so less than $1,000.

Our coverage is pretty all inclusive: $100 deductible collision, no deductible comp, under/uninsured driver, rental car, roadside assistance.. the full monty.

The sedan is like $38/mth for the same coverage.

I think we are under $1000 per year, but I need to check to be sure. If we are over $1000, it isn't by much. I imagine that the amount people pay will vary greatly, with location being the big factor--though driving record can also play havoc in some cases.

I pulled out our policy and we pay $366.84 for one year for fairly good coverage. We are just under $1000 for all three cars combined.

We pay 1300.00 CDN but that's with a 25% good driving discount. Our deductible is 200.00 and 5 million third party liability.

That's for a year? Shocked You sure that isn't 6 months? Ours runs us $364 for 6 months, or $728 a year... What company are you with?

It's for a year, not six months. I'm with Allied Insurance, which is a member of Nationwide Insurance. I use an independent agent.

I believe Wisconsin has a favorable environment for insurance customers. There are a lot of companies offering auto insurance here, so the market is competitive. Not all states have this, and the end result is higher rates for consumers. Also, I can take advantage of several of their discounts (good driving record, multi-policy (we have our homeowners with them), and car safety features) which helps keep the rate low and we are not in a big city so that helps, too.

Crying or Very sad I am paying 1400.00 Cdn for insurance. This includes a 40% safe drivers discount!! They call us 'Road Stars'.Laughing Auto insurance is run by our provincial government here(Insurance Corporation of BC-ICBC). It is mandatory to get your basic coverage through them and anything above that is available from private firms. Co-workers who have gone this route report saving up to 200 a year, possibly more depending on what coverage you want. The private firms only want the 'best' drivers to insure so if you've had some accidents they won't insure you or you won't be saving money. I haven't considered the private route yet. Seems like a hassle to deal with two companies if you have an accident. None of my co-workers have had an accident under the private insurers so they couldn't tell me what the experience would be like or how it would affect their rates.

A number of states have mandatory insurance, but I believe the law is often widely ignored. Do most people in BC comply with the mandatory insurance law? What happens to those who don't comply?

We pay $480 per year for the MPV (500 deductible on collision). By far the most expensive car we own to insure is a 2001 Focus at $640 per year. And it's an economy car!

Yah. Sometimes you end up giving up something in order to get something. Interesting to note the Focus is a high cost insurance car.
