So my 2004 MPV LX, with ~112k miles on it, runs pretty well, but the exception is that, in certain circumstances, the engine feels like it has the hiccups. Usually on a slight incline with modest power, I'll be driving along and it feels like a misfire but there's no CEL and the engine revs don't drop like it's a bad shift. A/C doesn't seem to make a difference (though I do usually have the fan blowing, even if the A/C isn't on.)

Any ideas what this could be? If I give it power I can get beyond it, but it's irritating.

When were the coils changed?

That's my guess.

Great question. I've had the van for a year and a half, and I'm not certain. Reading the forums the coils seem like the most likely culprit, but I was hoping someone could confirm that the symptoms sound correct.

My '06 had similar symptoms. Eventually I got a CEL, but it was P0000!

I rolled the dice and installed new coils and the problem went away. Haven't had a CEL since. FWIW, a lot of MPVs had coil issues.

No guarantees though!
