Factory tire size unavailable near me

Hello everyone. I went to a few tire shops and all of them list the 96 mpv rwd as 225/70/15 but the factory tires on my mpv have been 215/65/15 ever since we owned it from 2001. Where ever we went they said 215/65/15 is unsafe for the mpv. I bought 215/65/15 falkens in 2010. My mpv has excessive outer tire wear ripped one tire and have 3 tires with extensive outer wear. What do you guys think would be the cause of that? Tires are always properly inflated. Its the front end wearing the tires out. Last question would it effect anything if i throw 225/70/15 on the mpv? sad thing is the middle and inner portion of the tire look new.

From my owner's manual, it says 2WD versions should use 215/65/15 so what you have on there is right. Don't know what those guys are looking up but they should look at the 2WD option. When buying a new set of tires, make sure to get a wheel alignment. If it doesn't need one, they should only charge you a minimum for shop time and not for the alignment itself. You can also confirm the size on the driver's side door.

Also when you say properly inflated, what pressure are you pumping them up to? Reason why I ask is because alot of people will fill their tires up to the maximum pressure it says on the tire but you should always check the driver's side door for the proper inflation pressure.

I fill up using the numbers on the driver door pillar. Alignment shop said everything was okay and charged $100. I want to throw 215/65/15 tires but the local shops all say we cannot install that size and start going on about that size is unsafe and blah blah. I can get the 215/65/15 from a family owned tired shop for about $300 with lifetime balancing but they might be old stock.

I have started somewhat repairing the mpv. I actually am going to learn automotive painting with a professional painter on the front end of my mpv. Since the paint is peeling we sanded most of the hood and fenders. The tire replacement is making me think if I am going to pay $300 plus on tires might as well make the mpv looking great. I already resored a set of headlight and taillights and am gathering the trim exterior moldings and clips (might prep the car with primer and let a professional doing the clear coat)

Yes you can experiment with different sizes. But if you wanted wider tire id probably go with 225/60r15

I would get 4 new tires and get an alignment done immediately. You may need some suspension work done as well.

I know how plus sizing works and technically you will need 235/60/15 for it to match with 215/65/15. But the thing that confused me was all tire shops in my area said 225/70/15 is the right size and if I install 215/65/15 the warranty is invalid. I found one place that said brand new falkens installed and roadforced eith lifetime balancing and tire rotation for $280 out the door. I personally had bad experience with p4 tires in the past on my mercedes. Plus I have the same exact falkens on the mpv and they grip pretty good.

On my mercedes i went from 235/60/16 to 255/45/18 and 285/40/18.

2WD - P195/75R15 or P215/65R15

4WD - P225/70R15

It also says it right on the driver's door too so when you are at the tire shop, go show them that sticker.

I replaced all 4 tires on my 97 RWD with Fallken Sincera SN-828 215/65-R15 at Discount Tire last May. Total price with installation, old tire disposal, lifetime balance, and road hazzard protection came to $436.

I had never owned Falken tires before, but after 13000 miles, I've decided that I like them. They're quiet, grippy and they have unique wear indicators in the tread that show when tire rotation is recommended, circular holes in the tread wear down to squares then back to circles again.

Go bigger and make your MPV look great! I've run 235-75-15's with no rubbing and just bought a new set of 255-70-15's, same height but a little wider still no rubbing. Tires look great, makes it look like a truck! They are Coopers AT-3's white lettering out. Smooth quiet ride with aggressive looking tread. I don't have pictures yet but will try ASAP
