For those that have lowered their MPV.

What type of spring do you have and what kind of a drop did you get?

I'm looking for the MPV but the 5 is fine to. It might help others also.

On my MPV I have a set of Vogtland springs. Dropped about 1" all around so not much of a visual impact, but ride quality is preserved. The Tiens really lower the van much more and give it that lowered stance; however you will have a stiffer ride. It all depends on what you're looking for.

For the '5' there are more choices. I have a set of H&Rs, some guys have Teins and there are a few other options out there. Boils down to personal preference really.

Sorry to butt in on this thread but could I ask a series on related questions as I would also like to drop my MPV a bit:

With the Vogtland springs is there any compromise in practicallity? Would it limit the carrying or towing capacity of the vehicle?

I ask because I'm intent on buying a touring caravan soon and while I'd like the lower the car I don't want to upset it's ability to tow.

Many thanks,

Chris

handling improves.

however if you are buying sport springs you will feel the road

you can add spacers so you don't bottom out when fully loaded

vogtlands dropped my car about 1.5 inches. Only really noticeable when you park next to another MPV.

Ride is definitely more sporty and body motions are better controlled.

The only time I was near bottoming out was when I had the van fully loaded with 7 people with their gear for camping- I could feel it hit the bumpstops on a couple of highway undulations.
