I'm starting a new thread as I gather more info on this ...

I spoke with MazdaUSA this morning and after some digging, I found out the following:

- The name of the plan recommended by Mazda is:
Mazda extended protection plan (MEPP)

- This plan is handled by EasyCare (a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford)

- To get more information from easycare:
888-327-9400
877-238-8172
http://www.easycare.com
jmurray@easycare.com

- The warranty can only be purchased from an authorized dealer.

- All Mazda dealer repair facilities honor this warranty.

- The warranty can be purchased as long as there is at least 1 month
and 1000 miles left on the factory warranty.

My next goal is to start calling various Mazda dealers to get prices on the warranties. As I gather more information, I'll post it here.

If anybody else can get price quotes from dealers in their area and post them, perhaps we can find a dealer that we can all work through to obtain the warranty.

Any other information on the quality of service for this warranty is appreciated.

I'm not planning on buying a warranty for a couple of months until I can nail down fair pricing and some more information on quality of service (based on experience of others if possible).

I received a fax of the booklet for the MEPP. It's a 1 meg TIF file so I can't attach it here.

Is there a place to put a larger attachment here on the MPVClub website?

If not and you'd like a copy, post to this thread and I'll respond.

Appreciate you doing this for us.

It looks like they're more expensive than the other third party warranties out there, though.

Below are the prices I received on the MEPP TotalCare warranty. I'm wrapping up paperwork on an extended warranty for my MPV.

It's my understanding that if you live anywhere other than Florida, you can buy a warranty from any dealer in the country. Village of Denton came through for me with the best deal.

Based on the wide variance in prices, I highly recommend shopping around if you're looking for a Mazda-backed extended warranty.

Hope the below helps anybody thinking about getting MEPP ...

I got a brochure during the purchase and finance spiel about extended warranty. I asked if I could purchase at any time during warranty and he indicated that I could at a higher price. I asked how much and he indicated that at the end of the 47 months or 49000 Miles that it would be about 50% higher.

Of course, when he quoted me prices, he wrote them on a yellow sticky.

This got me to thinkin Idea We spend all of this time finding out how much the dealer invoice and incentives on the car are, but we know absolutely NOTHING about the dealer cost or incentives for these extended warranties.

Seeing the variability in how much different dealers were quoting the MEPP at also tells me that there must be a HUGE markup on these things that we do not know about.

Anybody out there done any research into dealer cost for extended warranties?

Been there, done that.
Went somewhere else, did it again.

just an FYI - they are currently in/filed for bankruptcy protection. The 3rd party that they were using for administration of the warrenty plans bought before June is insolvent. Contracts bought after June are with a different administrator. http://www.warrantyNews.com

couple of more questions about mazda's plan.

1) is its deductable per problem or per 'service encounter'? I had an extended warrenty that charged the deductable per problem. That got really expensive quickly. Mad

2) are the power sliding doors covered? That's a big cost if needed to be replaced. Shocked
