I plan on upgrading my sound system on my MPV, can anyone tell me the speaker sizes in the front doors and back cabin. Also what model tweeters would fit in the front dash. The factory sound in it right now is just to hallow, hopefully swapping out speakers will do the trick. (Ive got the four speaker package) . Does anyone know what size tweeters go into the dash? Huh?

According to http://www.crutchfield.com, the fronts are 6"x8" and the rears are 6"x9". This was at least with the '02's, not sure about the other years. They do not list any size for the front tweeters.

I could be wrong, but I thought the MPV had 5X7s all around.

yup, as subearu said:

It is 6x8 in the front and 6x9 in the rear. The 5x7 or 6x8 is actually the same speakers but the mounting holes are positioned so that it could accomodate either speakers. As far as tweeters are concerned, you could put almost any 2inch tweeters that have a flush mount installation kit. However in the rear ( if your MPV is equipped with the 9 speaker system) you would have to modify the brackets to install the tweeters behind the rear panels.

For the fronts : 6x8

You could allways buy a 6" round component set.

This comes with the Door speaker and the Tweater plus a Cross over (small Box)

You do need Door speaker adapters they are not expensive.

you can get them from car audio installation stores.

I see Scosche carries them. Model SA 68

www.scosche.com/scosche/speakers/adapters.asp

They are made by many companies not hard to get.

My set came with a tweater and multiple mounting kit.

It fit in like a dream. I use the 2" Flush mount.

My speakers are jl Audio , again there are so many

companies from which you can choose. I am very happy

with them and they were not a fortune.

www.jlaudio.com

www.jlaudio.com/evolution/vr.html (600 csi ) 6" Round

This is just a possible suggestion for your question,

and since I have them, I can recomend them.

But I also have an external amp running them. I don't know

The rears are 6x9 no problem very popular size

Advice if your tweaters come with a brand name sticker

do not stick it on . Do not ever advertise you have good

equiptment or crooks will want to steal them. weep

HI
Trying to update speaker system on 2009 MPV.
I see on the front dash two 'Holes' with caps on them ...
They are are in the front left and right far corners and are the size of a tweeter.

Is this there for the purpose of fitting tweeters ?
Simply remove the cap?

Thanks Smile

Thanks for confirming that, much appreciated.

I have since taken the front door panel off.
I see that the speaker size is 6x8.
I have heard mixed opinions on the sound quality of using the 6x8 versus using a 6" component (mid and tweeter).

Any advice ?

I would need to purchase a bracket to hold the 6" in the 6x8 hole ?

Thanks for your help .... new to this !

HI
Yes... actually I have just purchased the following:

Alpine SPR 60C
Alpine SPR 68
Alpine ILX 007E
Alpine 4 channel amp
Alpine under seat sub

Now I just have to figure out how to install this !
I am watching you tube clips to get ideas....

I see that the SPR60c comes with a bracket for fitting the 6" into the 6x 8 space which was simply a stroke of luck .... one less thing for me to think about.

Installing is quite easy pull up the door covers take out the old speaker put in the new speaker you may have to splice The Wire unless the connections are identical. Your biggest difficulty will be coming from the head unit did you check if you have compatible wire harnesses or if it was necessary.

I have all Sony speakers in my van but I kept the original head unit and added a boss phantom 1000 watt amp installed in the rear next to floor jack
