The power windows in my sliding doors have been getting stuck in the past several months. They go down, but they won't go back up. Usually they would eventually go back up, but I was leaving to go camping and the drivers side was down and not going back up.

It was too late to get the part, so I removed the door panel to attempt to get it back up one way or the other and before I started removing the innards I noticed that there were only two wires feeding the mechanism, so I switched them and tried rolling the window "down" which was actually up, and it worked!

So, from everything I had read, I needed to get a new regulator, but my question is: If switching the polarity right at the point where the current goes into the regulator made it work, doesn't that mean that it is capable of going up or down, no problem, and the problem is actually with the switch?

I'm no electrician, so maybe I have the wrong idea, but I'd hate to drop the money on a new regulator, get it installed, and it still doesn't work.
