Took a trip to Reno over the weekend. The van is filthy but really performed well. Not quite the conditions Fox experienced on his last trip, but it was the first time for MIL and kids to see real snow and caught a glimpse of the tornados forming in Sacramento.
Pretty exciting and I wish I had captured it on video, but I only brought the digi-cam and didn't take that out the whole trip!
I did get my new laptop hooked into the van via an fm transmitter and got it rigged between the front seats. Was able to use the included remote control and picture was fantastic. Made the trip a bit easier (although the eldest did have a tantrum on the way home). Got a cheap inverter too so that the battery on the laptop could charges as we went along.
Only thing I could say is that had I gotten an ibook, I'd have been able to change discs a lot easier, but that wasn't really a hassle.
Unfortunately, couldn't hook into the web in our hotel room so I was offline over the weekend. Rogelio (ro-hel'-lyo)

Reno, and you skipped the automobile museum?

The kids were a handful and the DW and MIL weren't too thrilled at the suggestion, but there'll be other trips. Believe me, I mentioned it to the familia and even showed them some of your pics... Rogelio (ro-hel'-lyo)

Been down in the Pensacola area this week. Spent today over in Gulf Shores at the beach (Jipster--just checking the area out for you...BTW, watch out with a 75mph CC setting in TN, that might cost you some $$$).
Minnie is running well. Only trouble was a couple of times I couldn't get the keys out of the ignition, but I figured out how to deal with that. Turned the odometer over 60K today. Mostly trouble free miles!!
Hope everyone is doing well! More later in a few days after we are back. [b:a970de293f]Dan[/b:a970de293f]

I did a Montreal to Toronto cannonball run at night last weekend. Friday there and Sunday back. It sucked. I am not a fan of driving throught TO at all. 401 is a boring strech.
This weekend I am up to the cottage. A nice rural highway up into the Laurentian mountains of Quebec where the lake and the other mode of transportation are... the BOAT Thanks,
Marcus

Drove down to St. Louis today. The MPV ran flawlessly, as usual. Most of the way down it was either raining or drizzling (free car wash) but it was never heavy enough to be a problem.
We are going to spend a couple of days here doing whatever. See the Cahokia site, go to a children's museum, visit the top of the Gateway Arch.
Only disappointment is that I spent a fair amount of time a couple of weeks ago looking for a reasonably priced motel with a pool. I found one and made reservations. When we arrived today, the pool was closed for several days for maintenance. Fortunately, there was another place a couple of parking lots away with a pool, though it will run us about 50% more scratch. I guess last night's rainout led some people to bail out of their motel rooms; otherwise we probably would have been stuck where we had reservations. Oh, well--any port in a storm. Headed on up to Cape Cod next week. Not as warm but we don't have the crowds and its quiet by the water. Taking the MPV so I'll keep an eye on the mileage - haven't swapped out the HydroEdges yet but probably will when I return. Then: '79 Plymouth Horizon, '88 VW Fox Wagon, '92 VW Jetta GL (DW), '96 VW Golf GL (DW), '97 Jetta GLX - Green, '03 MPV ES - Blue Mica (DW)
Now: '15 Hyundai Elantra GT - Titanium Gray Metallic (DW), '10 Honda Civic Si - Polished Metal Metallic |

We did a week trip to the Outer Banks in NC. MPV ran fine, 3 adults, one child. Loaded with hitch haul. No problems, got 24.5 with A/C running. She was still about 500 of needing an oil change, but the wife had to run back to NC for a wedding. So 6 qt's of Mobile 1 went back in. Guess I drained it good this time...

OBX - awesome. Great time of year to be there. Do any surf fishing? Where did you stay? We stayed in Avon a few years ago.
We head to Hilton Head, SC for T-giving with the parents next month. Rich. Dark. Deeply satisfying.
