I have a 2001 mpv lx, and recently it has developed a severe misfire with code p0300. However, after about five seconds the engine levels out and runs fine. Though, the MIL still remains on and flashing because of the severity of the misfire. After the initial incident the van runs fine even after letting it sit for hours than restarting the engine very odd. Any help to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated greatly thank you.

Might be dirty/sticking fuel injectors. Put a bottle of quality fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank and give it a little time to work. Other things to try here include cleaning the MAF and the IAC (which itself may be dirty/sticking).
