Coincident with getting the 5 back from a body shop, my wife reported that the L turn signal was blinking at about twice the normal rate.

This is typical of an open circuit (typically a burnt-out bulb), but I figured it would be a disconnected connector.

Pulled the L tail-light assembly. The bulb in question looked 100% - no open filament, and no burnt deposits on the glass. However, it tested open (i.e. infinite Ohms).

The local PartSource did not even have a listing for it. Fortunately, the dealer had bulbs in stock so I bought two.

I guess it was a true coincidence - they do happen.
