I can't seem to find what the torque specs are for the bolts on the intake manifold on my Peevee. It'd be nice if Haynes actually printed a mamn danual for this thing. In the mean time, anyone care to help? I'm planning on taking the manifold off to do a tune-up this weekend and I have no idea how tightly to tighten anything.

Matthew

Oh, and any word on whether or not those 6 manifold bolts are torque-to-yield? 'Cause we frickin' broke 3 of them putting the manifold back on. 85 in-lbs shouldn't be too much for those things, given the spec sheet, but they broke in half.

We ended up using the elbow-torque method (aka "That feels about right") to put them on with new bolts... but the next day I got a CEL with 4 codes-

P0102 - MAF or VAF circuit low input
P0401 - EGR flow insuff.
P1250 - Manufacturer control fuel air metering
P0481 - Cooling fan 2 control circuit

WTF? Would a vacuum leak set these off? I could get better bolts and torque them properly...

Not sure who's gonna come to your rescue and sorry my non-mechanically inclined booty can't.

Just wanted to say congrats on the upcoming album and that I pre-ordered. Wish you'd put the club in one of your songs someday(I was hoping it'd be in drive) you mention ipod and some other references in your other songs!

Can you sign mine with a shout out for the club and make it to "Papabear"? Wink

Hope you can get the birdmobile road-ready soon and keep the music flowing.

'Salright. I've got a friend currently enrolled in NADC (Nashville Auto/Diesel College) who's helping me out. We're pretty sure it's just a vacuum leak since we didn't exactly torque the manifold bolts on properly, but we won't find out until he can come over again to help me out. I'll keep this thread updated.

Heehee. Thanks! Smile Most of these songs were written before I even owned The Birdmobile, so I really didn't feel the need to screw with the lyrics. If this thing survives some touring, though, and if the MPV Club keeps me running on the road, I'll probably throw some props into the liner of my next album. Wink

Ah, so that was YOU that ordered it out of CA. I was wondering about that, Paypal sent me notice that someone paid with an e-check and I'd never seen anyone do that before. At least, I think that was you.

Anyhoo, thanks for the support and I'll definitely keep this in mind when I get to signing the plastic. Smile

Chances are good that if we had reconnected all of the freeking sensors, these codes wouldn't have popped up.

(Note to self: next time, make a checklist of every hose and connector you unplug and go through it BEFORE closing the hood and driving to work for a week.)
